Voluntary Action, East Renfrewshire

Voluntary Action is part of a network of Councils for the Voluntary Sector (CVS); it also functions as a Volunteer Centre.  The organisation that supports this network, Volunteer Development Scotland, worked with the Scottish Community Development Centre to adapt the LEAP framework to produce ‘LEAP for Volunteering’ (this process has been described in another case study – Voluntary Development Scotland). Voluntary Action used this framework to support the development of their Business Plan.  This plan has been externally evaluated as providing an effective framework for  recording and understanding its activities.  Since the plan has been in use they have benefited in a number of ways: while dealing with funding applications their feedback has emphasised that they were clear about what it was they were going to do and how they were going to achieve it and this meant that it was more likely that the applications would be successful.  They also felt that everyone in the organisation was clear about what their role was in making the organisation successful.
